London Food: The Parlour

I never really venture out to Canary Wharf (It's rather far away), but I had a meeting last week and chose The Parlour as our brekkie spot! All I can say is that I am absolutely gutted that this place isn't a chain and that it's only located in Canary Wharf because it's AMAZING!

It's quite big, but cleverly designed so that it still feels cozy. The decor is a mix of antique and modern looks, and the different seating options are fab. We sat on the beautiful soft, velvet couches near the entrance and it was great to see how much natural sunlight the entire place gets.

The menu is extensive, filled with quirky options but also with classic choices, so there is something there for everyone - making it the perfect meeting spot for breakfast, lunch or cocktails. I haven't personally tried the cocktails but have heard great things. Here is a quick review on my experience...

Who wouldn't want their lemon wrapped as beautifully as this? Genius

AMBIANCE *****
As mentioned earlier, the atmosphere and decor here is amazing, I love everything about it. The mix between the modern and antique makes you feel at home, and everything is so perfectly coordinated but in the most complicated way...if that makes sense! It is a really quiet area, especially for breakfast as it is in Canary Wharf. The only downside is that this location is usually too far for those who don't work there, so you'd need to make extra effort to experience it!

SERVICE *****
The service as superb. The waiters were very quick, friendly, very polite and very efficient. When you have very little time to get your meeting done, there is nothing worse than bad and slow service in a restaurant. These guys have it nailed, we were very happy! I also changed my mind about the juice and they immediately replaced it within a minute!

DRINKS *****
There is a really long choice of drinks here, and there's always something comforting about a restaurant that can make anything your heart desires! The best choice would probably be the freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable based customized juices! You  simply choose a 'base' flavour and then add whatever else you want, and voila - you get a fresh and delicious drink on your table within 3 minutes! I had the orange and carrot combination, yummy!

FOOD *****
Just like the drinks, the food menu is astonishing (There are several)...there is just so much in here! I am not a fan of big menus, but this brekkie one is just perfect. It's so easy to choose when everything is simple but with one or two intriguing additions. They serve the classics - poached eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. but it obviously tastes a lot better than at the greasy spoon down your road! The prices are very reasonable, in fact cheap for the great quality you get. I had the eggs benedict with ham, baby spinach, hollandaise sauce and English muffins. When it arrived it looked too big to stomach but it was just right - I managed to eat the whole thing! The eggs were cooked in two ways and I loved that, but I removed the spinach as I am really picky but I'm sure you can tell your preferences to the waiter!

Overall, I would highly recommend The Parlour and wish I worked nearer so that I can go more often!

Beautiful interiors, but these photos don't do it justice

Some of the cocktails on offer have been praised by media, as the restaurant does quirky variations of classic mixes

I actually managed to finish this! The eggs were perfect

So cute, just another decoration amongst other antiques

Everything is 10 times better with avocado!

Breakfast for one with a custom juice is only around £12

Style Icon: Miranda Kerr

Miranda is no doubt one of the most beautiful angels to walk the catwalk...Victoria's Secret angels that is! She's got an amazing aura about her, and even though she's got a very slim frame she looks like a real woman! She also looks amazing for her age, but dresses a lot more conservatively sometimes than I would imagine.

She wears jeans and trousers a lot, paired with booties, a large handbag and signature red lipstick. She definitely keeps it simple, but with a little bit of edge with her accessories and cool shoes. What a yummy mummy!

Beauty: Sure's 'the improvement movement'

Last week I attended Sure's (the deodorant) event which was all about self improvement. Sure Compressed conducted a survey recently and found that British women devote an average of 244 days and spend £116,495 in a lifetime perfecting their look and lifestyle.

Apparently, the average woman undergoes 21 career changes, 572 hair and make-up styles, 298 wardrobe overhauls and learns 131 new skills over the years. Pretty interesting...who knew we went through so many hair styles?

The event took place in the most gorgeous house I have ever been in. Situated in London's Fitzrovia Square, the house has four floors including a rooftop. The decor was stunning, with beautiful chandeliers hanging from the tall ceilings, and perfect white orchids carefully placed in each of the rooms. The kitchen was every chef's dream...I spent most of my time there eating with the gorgeous and talented Madeleine Shaw, a celebrity nutritionist.

They served sweet candyfloss cocktails (with a pinch of balsamic vinegar!) and canapes and there was also a career expert, a make-up artist, a stylist (Grace Woodward) and a photographer on hand to give out short master classes and tips.

I really enjoyed chatting to Madeleine and she has inspired me to eat healthily, cut out as much sugar as I can, and serve up more raw food! Check out her supper club coming up on the 1st of September here.

The Sure Compressed products are great - I've been using different variations of the deodorant and they really do last almost 24 hours. The new products are basically the same thing, except they're managed to reduce the amount of gas needed in the products by compressing the 150ml cans into smaller 75ml cans, but somehow with the same amount of deodorant! It's the perfect size for a handbag which is ideal.

Check out some photos from the event...

Style: Amazing news! Alexander McQueen collaborating with Damien Hirst

Alexander McQueen today announced that they will be celebrating their iconic skull scarf's 10th anniversary by collaborating with Damien Hirst. This is so exciting - what an awesome combination! Or as ELLE puts it: 'a match made in Brit design heaven'.

The 30-piece limited edition collection will feature Hirst's 'entomology' series, featuring kaleidoscopic images of butterflies, bugs, spiders and other insects. I wonder how they will incorporate the skulls into it, but I have no doubt that the designs will look beautiful!

The scarves will be available in chiffon, ponge, twill and cashmere and on sale from mid-November with prices starting at £315. These will sell like hot-cakes...to those who are lucky enough to get a hold of one!

Food: Lindt Excellence range

It's no secret I love Lindt chocolates (how many reviews have I done now?!!!) so to be sent these new flavours really makes my day! The new chocolate bars out in supermarkets now (RRP £1.83) are called Lindt Excellence and I tried both the Blueberry Intense and Strawberry Intense (lucky me!).

These summer inspired flavours are a great treat after lunch or dinner as they are really thin and have enough 'strong' flavour in just one block of chocolate. I obviously ate the whole thing in one go but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone if I knew any better.

I recently became a fan of dark chocolate, and these bars have a perfectly balanced taste of rich cocoa notes and fruit as well as delicate fruit pieces. The strawberry one is great as the fruit pieces are slightly bigger so you get that sweeter taste through quicker than the blueberry flavour...depends what you prefer!

I highly recommend!
