Home Proud: Urban Outfitters gems

Urban Outfitters have some of the best gifts on the British high street, and they have finally revamped their stock for the season. Everything was getting a little boring and repetitive in the homes and gifts isle so I was excited to spot some of these little inexpensive gems...Buy them for yourself or for a friend's birthday!

Home Proud: Shoe/wardrobe inspiration

Whether you have a tiny cute apartment or a whole room to fill with your goodies (I feel a little embarrassed) there are lots of ways to make it your own, with a little more charm and chic. Making my closet look nice inspires my daily wardrobe choices, and I really enjoy changing the decor a little every six months or so to freshen it up!

Here is some inspiration for you too...

Mix items on shelves (Ikea's Billy series is great) to make it look more interesting

Hang your hats for extra drama (and organisation :) ) or even display your favourite items like in a store if you have enough space

Ikea have a great sturdy clothes rail that I use that's similar to this one...great for small spaces, excess clothes or coats you want to be able to grab quickly

If you're into the hippy vibes, use the items you already have to display jewellery

Having all your shoes on display will keep reminding you of your fab collection...so you don't forget to wear them!

Keep your most precious or delicate shoes in their boxes to ensure no dust gets to those pretty heels

There are so many ways to display jewellery, and it's easy to get lots of cute hangers on your wall and miss match them wherever you want. I also wrote about vintage vanity trays you can use for perfumes, like the one in this picture (Get them on eBay)

If you are able to install wardrobes in your home, it can be really space saving like this rail that has been bolted into the wall. Create a dramatic effect with a large intricate mirror

I love how this plain ladder has been used with the frames...you could also hang your scarves on a ladder

Another hippy home inspiration...funny how a little bit of organised mess can look so pretty

Get shelves like this in Ikea (Billy range) for really cheap and proudly display your shoe collection

If you are limited to space, use Ikea's hanging shelves inside your closet

I love how this display has almost been made into a piece of art or furniture!

You can use closets as shoe shelves, if you would prefer to keep them all out of sight

Another pretty display

A girl can dream...who else has a couch in their closet?

Another great example of an inbuilt closet (a very open on though) inside a bedroom

There are companies who specialise in creating the perfect wardrobe for you...whatever your space size or needs

So pretty

Home Proud: Vintage china

One of the larger plates I bought on Portobello road...the detailing on the sides is beautiful

I've always been obsessed with all things vintage, including vintage china and kitchenware.

There is something very cute about them and they really do fit into any household, whether shabby chic or modern cosy is your style. They remind me of Marie Antoinette and cakes and everything sweet, so I love to serve cookies or cake on my carefully selected plates.

You can find mismatched tea pots, cups and plates anywhere for a great price if you know where to look, so I thought I'd share some of my 'search spots' with you.

Rare and Racy
This lovely young seller buys her vintage finds in the West country and then sells them at a stand on Portobello Road on Fridays and Saturdays. She has the most beautiful cake stands (£15) and mismatched plates (£3). She also makes her own mismatched cake stands.

Portobello in general has a lot of choice with some sellers not specializing in china that will have cheap prices.

eBay
Good old eBay - you can pretty much find everything here. From specific china designs from different eras, to cheap bargains like a 'lot' of plates (or bunch of plates). This is great if you are planning a party or want lots of china for your wedding.

Amazing selection of china for reasonable prices. I would recommend getting a better bargain at the markets but if you prefer to shop online then this is the place.

The China Girl on Etsy (Or Etsy in general!)
Really lovely selections of 'lots' of china plates, cups, etc.

Vintage Tableware Hire
There are a lot of companies that hire all sorts of vintage china for parties and weddings, and this can obviously prove to be a much cheaper option if you're looking to get them in bulk!

Home Proud: Rocket St. George Glass Frame

One of my favourite online stores for the home or for great, unique gifts is Rocket St. George.

I bought this double glass frame for my friend's birthday, and did some DIY to decorate both sides.

For the left side I just used a dried flower from an old bouquet, and I didn't need to press it properly or anything as it was sort of 'mossy' when dry anyway, and the colour stayed. You can pretty much put anything in there, as you just move the top needle to open the glass and slide in your piece of art!

For the right side I printed an image and then cut small strips of lace as the frame. You can buy any lace or material you want at haberdashery stores or on eBay - easy!

This frame was only £12 and comes in two sizes. Buy it here

Home Proud: Rough 'n' chic

My favoured decorations and accessories are always antique or shabby chic, and a I think a great way to decorate a cozy house is with some 'rough' things. I think beige couches go well with sanded white frames on the walls, clean white kitchens go well with wired fruit and bread bowls, and beautiful, delicate bedding goes so well with worn out art.

These are only some of the options to decorate a home in a modern but 'French' cottage style, and I've found a few great things on Cox & Cox (amazing shop!), as well as a lovely diffuser from one of my favourite London brands, Boujies.

I wrote about the wonderful Boujies Black Dahlia diffuser before, and I still have it! They really do last for months and give any room a perfectly balanced scent. What I really like about these is the packaging, it's so pretty and fits in anywhere discreetly even though it is quite a big bottle.

The new Chelsea Flowers diffuser is a fresh and luscious floral fragrance with a blend of gardenia blossom, freesia, peony, tuberose and orange blossom gently blended with a warm base of vetiver and cashmere woods and musks. It's the perfect scent for end of summer, bringing the flowers of the season into my dressing room as Autumn begins.
