I've discovered one of the coolest places ever (how many times do I say that??!!) in London. An artist that creates neon lighting for the likes of Selfridges and Vogue, also used to sell these pieces in his shop in Walthamstow that he calls God's Own Junkyard.

"Chris Bracey has been the Neon Man for 37 years creating iconic artpieces for David la chappelle, Martin Creed etc. With a cult following in London and Los Angeles.
New & used neon fantasies, salvaged signs, vintage neons, old movie props and retro displays. Neon art made from found objects, retrieved and renewed waste and lights, Fairground & circus lighting, architectural sign salvage.
Chris has collected these neon and bulb icons and salvages old neons and architectural advertising from the streets before they disappear forever. Repaired and resurrected, coupled with quirky art and powered up to shine like jewels of light. Icons in their own right, Gods own junk yard where neon never dies."
If like me, you've always wanted a neon letter or sign above your bed or kitchen table, this is the perfect place to get it. They do commissions but also sell loads of different and exciting signs that they created for photo shoots or movies. They range between £150 and thousands of pounds so there is really something for everyone's pocket.
The staff are really friendly and chatted to me about their workshop around the corner, how long they have been in the area, and the sad truth that they now have to relocate as the council is taking over their land to build flats. They are still on the look out for a place, and their plans sound so exciting that I can't wait to hear what they will do next.
