Style Pick: Chinese fashion designers

In addition to my first post, I searched for some well known Chinese designers to check them out and post on here. Here are two cool labels that caught my eye!

UMA WANG
Finally getting into the spotlight at AW 12/13 Milan Fashion Week, Uma Wang started her label seven years earlier after studying at China Textiles University and Central St. Martins. Her website reads: "...Uma Wang has received critical acclaim for her shows and presentations in Shanghai, London, Paris, and Milan. She has become a leader in the Chinese fashion industry by producing high quality products and collections that always balance fashion with functionality." See some of her SS13 designs below.

HUISHAN ZHANG
Also a former Central St. Martins student, Huishan's debut show was at Somerset house during London SS13 Fashion Week. He previously had support from the NEWGEN scheme and got to sell his designs in Topshop NEWGEN showrooms before breaking out on his own. All the fabrics he uses are made in China, and he explains that all the motifs in the prints and crystal embroideries are "good symbols". For example birds that mean "freedom" and flowers that bloom in winter next to them that mean "toughness". Sheck out some outfits from the

And finally, I also think Etro did a nice take on some oriental prints and designs in their Spring 2013 RTW collection. See my two favourite designs below...
